The Oromia Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations, in collaboration with the West Shewa Zone, provided awareness-raising training to the president, vice president, and general secretaries of the 23 newly organized chambers of commerce in the woreda.
The Zonal Trade Office has been instrumental in the establishment of chambers in towns and districts under the West Shewa Zone and is still providing training and monitoring support. Of the newly established councils, 22 have received legal certificates and have so far recruited 8,394 members and have begun collecting membership dues.
The Oromia Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been briefed on the objectives, vision, mission, powers and responsibilities of the Chamber of Commerce, as well as the rights and obligations of the Chambers of Commerce.
The West Shewa Zone trade representatives, who said they have learned a lot from the Oromia experience exchange this year, indicated that they will work hard from now on to build a strong economic sector.
